Offshore wind projects are highly complex, which is why WT’s Project Delivery division brings together project directors with decades of experience to ensure the highest level of project governance and focus on risk reduction to assure project delivery on budget and time.

Unlike other consultancies, WT directors play an integral role in the delivery and decision making in our projects using the principle of constructive support.

Paul Gibbs

Associate Director, Head of Dept

Paul has over 15 years’ experience in urban and offshore geotechnical projects including planning, geo-environmental assessments, design, site investigation and project management. Paul has been responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of multi-disciplinary onshore and offshore projects. Project involvement has included desk studies, identification of development risks, site investigation scoping; supervision and management, laboratory analysis, preparation of detailed ground models, assessment of environmental contaminated land risk, derivation of geotechnical design parameters, foundation design and construction supervision. Paul also has a strong background in directors and team management.

Koen Legrand

Associate Director, Head of Dept

Koen is a Lead Secondary Structures engineer with 10 years of experience working in the offshore industry. Since starting his career in the offshore sector in 2011, Koen has been involved in designing primary and secondary structures for fixed and floating structures. He has worked on internal and external secondary systems, including the interaction with the primary steel. He has a strong focus on client interaction and developing a safe and fabrication-friendly design. Throughout his career, Koen has worked with numerous clients and fabricators in Europe and Asia, giving him in-depth knowledge in the practical aspects of designing Secondary Structures.

Vanrisch Mclean

Associate Director, Head of Dept

Vanrisch is a geophysicist with almost 15 years of professional experience gained whilst working on oil and gas and renewable projects in the North Sea, West Africa, North America and mainland Europe. His main specialism is deep geophysical methods, including 3D modelling, seismic inversion and seismic processing. Vanrisch has a broad experience base and is particularly well suited to projects involving the integration of multi-disciplinary data in complex geological environments. He has been instrumental in the testing and application of novel geophysical methods aimed at greater overall efficiency, reduced project timelines and increased ground model robustness.

Marek Niedzielak

Associate Director, Head of Dept

Marek is a structural engineering specialist with 15 years of experience in the design and construction of offshore structures. He has an established track record in the delivery of major projects spanning concept development, front-end engineering, detailed design, installation, operations and decommissioning of fixed and floating structures. Marek spent most of his career at bp being deployed to multidisciplinary delivery teams executing large scale projects for offshore production facilities such as Shah Deniz 2 and Azeri Central East in the Caspian Sea and Clair South in the North Sea. He was responsible for structural scope managing performance of multiple engineering and marine installation contractors and collaborating with many specialist consultants. Marek made a transition to renewables in early 2021 starting with Noble Denton Advanced Engineering & Consulting team at DNV to work on site assessments for Jack-ups supporting offshore wind farm installation before joining Wood Thilsted in August to lead the Transport and Installation team.

Carla Ribeiro

Associate Director, Head of Dept

Carla is a senior manager and renewable energy expert with more than 17 years of experience in the wind industry. She initiated her career in renewables, as a wind energy analyst, in early 2005, having then moved to the UK in 2008 to join DNV GL (formerly Garrad Hassan).

During the next 12 years Carla held a number of positions at DNV GL, both technical and managerial, and oversaw a number of technical projects and teams undertaking a variety of consultancy work across the world. Her expertise lies in wind resource assessment, meteorological site conditions assessment, and yield estimation, however she has been responsible for the management of teams and departments offering a wider range of related analytical services. These include: operational assessments; performance monitoring; short-term day-ahead forecasting; digital twin; solar resource and yield assessments, among others.

In the second half of 2020, after a short period assisting Cubico with their renewable projects acquisitions, Carla joined Wood Thilsted to develop the energy and climate analytical capabilities of the company.

Amir Shajarati

SAGE Technical Director

Amir is a civil engineer with more than seven years of experience within offshore engineering. He has worked with structural analysis and design of offshore jacket structures for oil platforms and for more than 6 years he has been working as an offshore geotechnical and structural engineer performing geotechnical interpretative works of advanced laboratory tests and primary MP/TP design derivation. Amir holds a M.Sc. from Aalborg University where he extensively worked with the cyclic response of soils with emphasis on the design of suction caissons for wind turbines.

John is an experienced project manager specialising in geotechnical and geophysical site investigation projects for offshore renewables and oil and gas clients. John has worked in the offshore sector for over 10 years and has directly managed projects for many developers in the renewables sector. John also has extensive first-hand experience of offshore operations, which are invaluable in assessing and managing projects and adhering to project requirements. John’s extensive offshore and onshore experience in all aspects of the geotechnical and geophysical site investigation project timeline allows for close collaboration between project partners. This ensures project goals are prioritised whilst risks and variations are managed to achieve timely milestone objectives.

Ashley is an Associate Director, working in a variety of project roles as a Project Director, Project Manager and Design Manager. Through these roles he focused on facilitating effective collaboration between our delivery teams and our clients, helping to cut through complexity, balance risks and embedding project delivery best practice across our projects. Ashley has extensive experience of managing complex projects in the offshore space, including delivery of designs for major offshore substations and WTG foundations.

Matthew Simms

Chief Consultant

Matthew is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 15 years’ experience working on dynamic structural analysis, complex finite element modelling as well as a specialist in offshore wind substructure design. He has been working in offshore wind foundation analysis and design for 10 years, including design projects from concept through to detailed design as well as structural health monitoring and general engineering consultancy inputs to our clients. Throughout his career, Matthew has established and maintained key contacts within the industry and enjoys pushing the engineering boundaries and the industry norms. He has a good client manner and is always willing to take the time to explain technical topics to clients in a way that allows their full understanding of the issues.

Paul Cassidy

Lead Engineer

Paul is a chartered engineer with over 25 years’ of structural and civil engineering experience, principally in the engineering of offshore structures. His experience includes front end, detailed and follow-on engineering of offshore structures including topsides structures, jackets, gravity-based substructures, monopiles and link bridges. Paul has led several jacket engineering teams in the oil & gas and wind energy industries. At WT, Paul leads transportation and installation engineering scope for the company’s wind turbine foundation projects.

Hiram Mechling

Project Director

Hiram is the senior project manager and professional engineer of record (P.E.) on the Vineyard Wind WTG foundation design. While attaining his MSCE in structural engineering from the University of Washington, he received the Valle Scholarship to research and study in the Wind Energy graduate program at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This experience furthered his passion to continue his career with Keystone Engineering in the Offshore Renewables division. Hiram has supervised the primary steel design, secondary steel, and electrical design of offshore wind projects in US waters. He has worked projects such as Vineyard Wind (US), DWW Block Island (US), Dominion VOWTAP (US), Fishermen’s Energy (US), NRG Bluewater Wind (US), CapeWind (US), SmartWind (UK), Ørsted ChangHua 1 & 2a (Taiwan), Mayflower Wind (US), Changfang / Xidao (Taiwan) and Guanyin (Taiwan)

Ruth Stevens

Lead Project Manager

Ruth is a chartered Mechanical Engineer, with over 20 year experience in managing global energy projects. Experienced in multi-national projects, both from a Contractor and Company stance, Ruth is delivery focussed with a passion for improved collaboration. With a deep knowledge of offshore construction, Ruth brings added diversity of experience to the project management team. Ruth is married with 1 daughter, and lives in Surrey, UK.

James Croftson

Lead Project Manager

James is a Project Manager with a strong focus on Technical Design Coordination and Interface Management. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, with Project Management qualifications. James has experience in finding solutions for micro-scale as well as macro-scale challenges – ranging from HSE implications of specific fabrication tolerances, up to wind-farm layout optimisation processes considering grid connection constraints. He brings experience from projects across the offshore wind, tidal and wave energy sectors, having worked on behalf of a range of project development, technology development, engineering consultancy and installation contractor organisations.

Luke Fussell

Lead Project Manager

Luke is a mechanical engineer from Bristol, with over 15 years or professional engineering experience, 11 of those within the wind and offshore engineering sectors. From a predominantly technical background spent carrying such diverse activities as detailed FE modelling, fatigue crack growth calculations, wind turbine blade design and even cryogenic piping, in more recent years I’ve moved towards a project management focus. I joined WT in February 2019 and have spent the last 2 years as project manager for East Anglia Hub: the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

Hannah Abend

Director of Growth

Hannah Abend has degrees in physics and geophysics and has held key positions in the Offshore Wind and Tidal Energy industries for the past 15 years. She has expert knowledge in metocean assessment, layout, site investigation, yield assessment, construction and installation, optimisation, technical tool development, contractor management, survey management, and project management on projects from early feasibility stages through to O&M. She has managed technical teams, overseeing tool development, quality and R&D, and has considerable project management experience of the engineering and technical aspects of offshore wind farms having worked as a consultant, within a client team and with a developer.

She is WT's Chief Operating Officer, tasked with designing, implementing and operating all business operations at WT to deliver on the company business plan. She works closely with all the directors to ensure expansion and technical development activities, business development and internal leadership are aligned across the company.

Frederik Agergaard

Lead Engineer

Frederik has been engaged in site investigations and ground conditions assessment for offshore wind farm projects of nearly 10 GW in various stages from early stage development through to detailed design as either contractor, consultant or developer. He has served in roles as Client’s package manager, onshore project manager and technical lead for soil interpretation and lab testing, through which he has gained extensive experience in managing and supporting large scale, multi-vessel geotechnical and geophysical site investigations from tender to delivery of interpretation reports, ground model development including hands-on experience in overseeing and optimizing geotechnical laboratory testing. Additionally, Frederik has experience with developing and designing offshore cable routes navigating and conforming to the various local environmental, legislative, installation, and maintenance requirements as well as assessing burial risk.

Simon Beckett

Chief Consultant

Simon is a Chartered Engineer with nearly 15 years’ experience in performing, leading, and managing structural integrity assessment and design projects for clients in the offshore industry. He is a technical specialist in the assessment of fixed and floating offshore structures under strength, fatigue, and accidental conditions by complex finite element analysis, and is a member of the hearing body for DNV-RP-C203.

Mike Bell

Director of Finance

Mike is a chartered accountant with more than 30 years’ experience in the profitable development and sale of global service and manufacturing businesses, under both private equity and corporate ownership.

Mike qualified at Grant Thornton in South Africa, moving to the Barlow World Group and subsequently Rentokil Initial before relocating to the UK in 2000. Mike is working at Wood Thilsted to strengthen the financial reporting, systems, and commercial focus of the group.

Danny Bonnett

Director of Structures

Danny is a highly experienced structural engineer and manager, operating for more than 10 years within the offshore wind industry, and 25 years in the wider energy industry. He is very comfortable in a multi-disciplinary environment and has a broad appreciation energy client needs and drivers. He is the Director responsible for Offshore Structures within Wood Thilsted, and has focused recently on design for manufacture & installation and floating wind technology. Danny is working within Wood Thilsted to advance our thinking on sustainability, seeking ways to make our design output biodiversity positive, as well as managing embodied carbon down to below zero.

Lead Geophysicist

Lucy is a geophysicist with 18 years’ experience in onshore and offshore geophysics for site investigations. Since 2010, she has specialised in development and optimisation of ground models for offshore wind projects, with a focus on the integration of geophysical, geotechnical, and hydrographic data to minimise the risk of unforeseen ground conditions. She has a particular interest in improving the visualisation and accessibility of ground modelling information for all stakeholders. She also has a strong track record in the provision of Owner’s Engineering and expert geophysical support services.

Jon Collins

Lead Data Scientist

Jon has almost 15 years of experience in the renewables industry working in roles combining customer-facing consultancy, data analytics and software development.

Focussed for the last 5 years on developing software and processes to improve the efficiency and quality of pre- and post- construction energy yield assessments (EYAs/EPAs) as well as other turbine SCADA analysis and performance/diagnostics tools. Jon was instrumental in the development of DNV GL’s wind farm digital twin “WindGemini”

Prior to that, 10 years working on wind, solar and power demand forecasting services for utility and TSO customers including 6 years of leading DNV GL’s forecasting activities with P&L and line management responsibilities.

Jon is skilled in mapping out customer needs, business risks/opportunities and stakeholder requirements and combining them into a actionable software plans/solutions.

Marie-Anne Cowan

Lead Offshore Wind Analyst

Marie-Anne is a senior renewable energy expert with almost 15 years of experience in the wind industry. She began her career with Garrad Hassan (subsequently DNV) as a wind energy analyst in 2007 and during the latter half of her time at DNV held the role of technical lead for offshore wind resource and energy yield assessment in Northern Europe.

Over the course of her career, Marie-Anne has provided independent, technical advisory services to onshore and offshore wind farms at various stages of development across a range of markets including the Irish, North and Baltic Seas offshore, and onshore projects in the UK, Ireland, South Africa and the Nordic region.

Marie-Anne has been involved in the delivery wind resource and energy yield related analyses for over 14 GW of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe, many of which are now operational, and has supported offshore projects in the US and Asia. She has also managed industry leading projects with the Crown Estate and Carbon Trust, improving industry understanding of offshore wind resource and reducing LCoE of offshore wind projects.

Throughout her career Marie-Anne has established and maintained long-term customer relationships in the wi nd industry and has substantial experience of working with project developers, owners and investors of wind farm projects and also in supporting due diligence transactions.

Ed Crammond

Director of Commercial

Ed has over 15 years of structural engineering design and major project delivery experience, encompassing a variety of onshore, heavy civil and offshore energy projects, with particular focus on offshore renewables. He has a keen understanding of design inter-dependencies within offshore wind and how these can be managed to maximise value for clients. Ed has worked on a wide variety of offshore wind projects in the UK, US, Germany and Taiwan and leads the Project Delivery division.

Marijn Dekker

Lead Engineer

Marijn has been working as a geotechnical engineer on offshore projects since 2014, initially designing suction caisson foundations for several offshore wind and oil and gas projects, including the first offshore wind farm fully founded on suction caisson foundations. Since joining Wood Thilsted in 2018 he has been leading the geotechnical design of several Taiwanese offshore wind farms. He has a strong background in formulation of foundation stiffness using advanced numerical models and analysis of soil-structure interaction effects.

Amir Farajifard

Lead Electrical Engineer

Amir is the Lead engineer for Electrical and Instrumentation systems, supporting Wood Thilsted with LV systems requirements and design. His design background for electrical systems started in 2008 with earthing and lightning protection systems, goes to low voltage packages and equipment, and continued to high voltage gridlines and substation and their control system. His experience comes from the energy section, oil and gas, and power systems where he designed, supervised the fabrications and erections, tested, and handed over different electrical and automation packages and systems to different offshore projects all around the world. His main focus in Wood Thilsted is to support projects with power systems studies, designing distribution and control panels, lighting, cabling, and cable management systems, earthing and bonding, lightning protection requirements, and instrumentations.

Simon is a highly motivated Project Manager with more than 15 years’ experience working and managing across Europe and Asia-Pacific in the onshore, nearshore and offshore sectors of geotechnical investigations, geophysical site surveys and UXO/pUXO surveys and inspections. Simon has worked and managed within the Offshore Wind industry in Taiwan for the past 5 years, focusing on all aspects of offshore and nearshore ground investigation and survey initially as a contractor and, more recently, on behalf of developers. Simon’s broad experiences of working in countries with different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds provides him with the unique ability to adapt quickly to the different challenges encountered from governmental level to supply chain to language barriers to being personally resident in country.

Matthew Geary

Lead Engineer

Matt is lead primary steel engineer at Wood Thilsted with over a decade of experience in offshore structures and a passion for developing high functioning technical teams. He has a background in complex nonlinear finite element analysis and fatigue design. He recently led the Primary Steel design of WTG jacket structure which is in fabrication and is currently PS lead for an XXL monopile detailed design.

Laure Grignon

Lead Project Manager

Laure is a Project Manager experienced in managing technical work at all stages of an offshore wind project, from bid development through to operations and maintenance.

She started her career as a Metocean specialist applying her strong programming skills to the modelling of engineering and logistics problems. Laure was then involved in the management of technical packages, such as Metocean, resource assessment, project optimisation and operations and maintenance, during the early stages of project development. Over the last few years, she has acted as the deputy offshore construction manager of a pilot wind farm in the UK, has provided due diligence and certification services and acted as project manager for detailed foundation designs. Laure now leads the provision of owner’s engineering services to offshore wind projects in the bidding or development phases.

Florent Guinot

Lead Metocean Analyst

Florent is a lead metocean specialist with more than 15 years of experience dedicated to marine renewable energy.

After a PhD in physical oceanography, he undertook a variety of consultancy work for numerous entities. This has included in-situ measurement campaigns, numerical simulations and data analyses in different contexts with very specific problematics where innovative solutions had to be found.

He has developed several methodologies to better characterize the environment including optimized design load cases definition, multivariate extreme analyses, weather windows assessments for complex operations, current turbulence characterization, wake effect estimation, etc.

Florent spent the last 5 years working in the growing field of floating offshore wind, providing thorough site characterisation worldwide and contributing to the engineering and mooring development of floating units.

William Heaps

Lead Engineer

Will is a versatile engineer with qualifications in Naval Architecture and Automotive Engineering.

At WT, he supports the finite element analysis team in the design of primary and secondary steel structures. With a company focus on development of people and design capability, responsibilities also include the use of programming to automate the design of wind turbine foundations to enable efficient delivery on projects. Recent experience has included the detailed modelling of large diameter bolted flange and grouted connections.

Dennis Hindhede

Dennis has been working with offshore foundation design for several years and has extensive knowledge of the offshore substructure and foundation industry across multiple phases. A highly analytical professional, he has experience with different design methods to improve the cost-effectiveness and mitigate the critical parameters offshore foundations. He has been working with a wide range of technical aspects through various activities across the project phases as Lead Engineer for the primary steel foundation design and as Load Package Lead.

Charles Humphreys

Charlie Humphreys is a lead engineer in Wood Thilsted’s Transport and Installation team. Charlie is a passionate engineer driven to solve complex engineering challenges in innovative and efficient ways utilising advanced engineering analysis and coding. Charlie is a chartered naval architect with over 10 years experience delivering design and analysis solutions across the fixed and floating offshore wind and oil and gas markets.

A UK energy background also sees Rob championing how our services are considered a value in the supply chain, through efficiency in design, and in the ability to respond to client changes and still maintain client timetables.

Paul Knight

Director of SAGE

Paul has more than 20 years experience in offshore, urban and civil geotechnical projects including planning, site investigation, design, construction and project management. Paul has been leading the geotechnical development and design of offshore wind projects since 2009. He has considerable experience in offshore survey planning and execution, geotechnical interpretation and design and installation assessment of foundations and cables. Paul leads the Site Assessment and Ground Engineering division comprising Energy and Climate Analytics, Surveys and management, Ground Engineering and Design and Geophysics departments.

Christopher Lomax

Associate Director

With over 30 years’ experience in geotechnical, civil and marine engineering, advisory and project management, Chris has international onshore and marine experience of engineering and environmental consultancy, contracting and manufacturing. His offshore wind experience started with the Blyth Offshore Wind Farm in 1999, continuing through Round 1, 2 and 3 projects in the UK, plus windfarms in the USA and Australia and includes Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind, cable infrastructure, cost models and port / O&M facilities. Chris started working on subsea cable projects in 1998, initially telecom, but increasingly power cables (including interconnectors and offshore wind). Chris has led and supported port projects for 15 years, primarily in relation to facilities for offshore wind and subsea technology, for offshore wind developers, OEMs, ports and the public sector. He also has experience in marine renewables, including tidal stream and wave power projects.

Johan Meincke

A geotechnical engineer by training I have spent the last 15 years working almost exclusively on offshore wind projects in various roles from detailed designer to site investigation specialist and to various project, line and commercial management roles. I have spent 10 years in developer organizations in interacting with decision makers, maturing sites and projects and taking them through all stages including early planning, maturation, construction and operation. I have a particular interests in geohazard identification and mitigation as well as geotechnical design optimizations and my expertise includes pile and cable installation, jack-up assessment, pile testing and design. I have recently returned to Europe following a 3 year expatriation to Taiwan setting up the WT branch in Taipei.

Martin Nielsen

Structures Technical Director

Martin has +14 years’ experience in the Offshore Wind Industry and a very strong academic background within the field, as proven by an excellent academic and industrial track record. Prior to his current role as Technical Director responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the technical quality and competences in the structures department at WT, he has played a central role in R&D at Ramboll and held a tenue-track position as Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark. He is an industry leading expert within design driving mechanisms, optimal clustering strategies and complex dynamic sensitivity for monopiles and jackets and has played a central role in pushing forward the industry practice for integrated load analysis (ILA) with all major turbine suppliers. His professional deliveries cover all design stages - from cost-efficient bids for competitive auctions through to certified detailed designs – from which he has gained a solid understanding of how to reach the perfect balance between technical excellence and time optimized, risk mitigated solutions to ensure a cost-optimal design for the Client.

Matthew Palmer

Director of USA

Matthew Palmer is a power industry professional with over 35 years of experience in acquisition, development, and management of power generation assets. He has been involved in offshore wind for 20 years, and was one of the founders and first Executive Director of Clean Power Now, the first non-profit organization in the US dedicated exclusively to offshore wind. He served as Project Manager for Engineering at Cape Wind, achieving the first approval of a Facility Design Report from BOEM. Matt started an offshore wind business at WSP, including commencement of the WTG foundation design for Vineyard Wind, and partnering in the substation designs for Vineyard and Mayflower. AT WT, Matt leads the US business and manages global business development for the company.

Bruna de Queiroz

Senior Oceanographer

Bruna has three years of experience in numerical modelling of oceanographic processes including propagation of waves, tides, currents as well as sediment transport and seabed morphology. More recently, Bruna has been applying her oceanography background and analytical skills in the offshore wind farm industry being involved in atmospheric and oceanographic site conditions assessment as well as wind resource assessments. Particular experience in numerical modelling using Deltf3D, data analysis using Matlab/Python and spatial analysis using ArcGIS/QGIS.

Anthony Setiadi

Chief Consultant

Anthony has been in the materials and corrosion field for 19 years in academia and industry. He has broad experience in the energy industry after working in nuclear, oil and gas and offshore wind. He has covered projects from concept and all the way to operation asset integrity and life extensions, including management of various stages of design, procurement and fabrication for materials and corrosion protection. Anthony is supporting Wood Thilsted projects worldwide to deliver robust corrosion protection design on our structures. Throughout his career, Anthony has also been heavily involved in Institute of Corrosion and especially in training younger engineers through developing the Young Engineer’s Programme.

Evangelia (Evita) Skiada

Lead Geotechnical Engineer

Evita is a highly skilled Geotechnical engineer with a formidable record in academia and private sector. She has 10 years of experience in urban and offshore geotechnical projects including design, site investigation and project management. Since joining Wood Thilsted in 2018, Evita has been leading the seismic design of several Taiwanese offshore wind farms. She has also been responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of multi-disciplinary offshore projects, including desk studies, derivation of geotechnical design parameters and foundation design.

Prior to starting as an engineer in Wood Thilsted, Evita was part of the numerical research group at Imperial College London where she carried out her PhD in engineering seismology. She is a Chartered engineer of the Institute of Civil Engineers. Evita’s areas of expertise include geotechnical earthquake engineering, geotechnical hazards, engineering seismology and FE modelling. In addition, she has assessed earthquake risk for various engineering structures (i.e. shallow foundations, pile groups and slope stability remedial measures), interpreted global seismic regulations and compiled reports for seismic hazard and geological desk studies.

Mark Spring

Lead Engineer

From a wind turbine loading, numerical modelling & code development background, developed over 29 years in the wind power sector, Mark has lead complex engineering, commercial, academic and industry standardisation projects. Currently he is loads package lead for a large wind farm in a region new to wind power. He is passionate about ensuring the fullest engagement of all the team, taking care of interfaces, interdependencies, competencies and capacities, both within the organisation and with all participating groups. A priority for him is to play an active role in the decarbonisation of the energy sector whilst mitigating, ameliorating or enhancing the wider environmental consequences of a big civil engineering project. The wider context of consultancy activities is important, including developing suitable economic models to test and compare feasibility during early stages. As floating wind lead since 2017, he has played a part in pushing boundaries and identifying future engineering challenges. He leads the development of a novel anchor option for floating platforms, supported by the UK government. Closing the circle of the engineering design process is possible through scrutinising root causes of non-conformities, system monitoring, updating estimates of remaining life, improving wind farm management and justifying operation beyond expected project life. He is familiar with the requirements of regulatory compliance, certification, qualification of new technologies and commercial liabilities.

Christian Thilsted

Christian has held key positions in the Offshore Wind Industry for more than a decade and has expert knowledge in effective execution of site investigations through to detailed design and optimization of offshore structures ensuring a holistic overview of critical activities across all phases. He has an engineering specialist background with an excellent academic track record provides the ability to apply engineering efficiently to optimize value and minimize risks of offshore wind farm developments. He has developed engineering software applied for detailed design of wind turbine foundations widely applied in numerous offshore wind project projects and has been a central figure in the industry pushing forward the technical development and quality processes with respect to design, fabrication and installation of offshore structures and cables.

Alastair Muir Wood

Founder & Managing Director

Alastair is a chartered geotechnical engineer with experience in design, management and construction of a large variety of civil engineering projects both offshore and onshore. He is also one of the two founding partners of Wood Thilsted Partners Limited. Prior to starting WT Alastair was leading the geotechnical detailed design of monopile foundations for all DONG Energy (now Ørsted) offshore wind projects. This included development of in-house design tools, and implementation of quality control and assurance procedures on all projects. It has also included obtaining project certification and third party approvals a large number of projects.

From 2012 to 2015, Alastair founded and provided the technical leadership for the international joint industry PISA project, which will develop new design guidance for offshore piles specifically for offshore wind turbine foundations. Alastair is chairman of the steering committee of the Imperial College and University of Oxford research project ALPACA.
